AG Choice, LLC

Ag Choice is the first New Jersey DEP approved agricultural composting facility permitted to collect and receive agricultural waste (i.e., animal and stall waste, spoiled haylege, silage, etc.) and compost it for off-farm use.

Ag Choice is recognized by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, the USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Services, Rutgers Cooperative Research and Extension, and the Sussex County Solid Waste Advisory Committee as an innovative, necessary and valuable business for New Jersey.

Ag Choice was created with New Jersey farmers in mind. In 2007 the New Jersey Department of Agriculture will release the final guidelines for developing comprehensive animal waste management programs for livestock farms to proactively address potential non-point source pollution from animal operations. This is to ensure that organic farm waste, such as manure, straw, and animal bedding is handled properly. When not handled properly these wastes create a host of problems to both humans and livestock. Bacteria, parasites, e-coli, salmonella, fly larvae, odor problems, unsightly manure and bedding heaps, and contaminated water are just a few of the problems created.

These guidelines have been implemented in several states already, including New York and Pennsylvania and are designed to improve water purity for both surface and underground drinking water. Further information can be found at the New Jersey Department of Agriculture http://www.nj.gov/agriculture/divisions/anr/agriassist/animalwaste.html. Ag Choice can help farmers comply, by offering several convenient manure removal options and a drop off facility.

Ag Choice will collect the waste, and compost it into a high quality humified compost which can be reintroduced into the environment as an organic soil amendment.

By choosing Ag Choice to help recycle your animal waste you can help make your farm and New Jersey a cleaner place to live.

Here’s what people are saying about Ag Choice’s high quality, all natural products which have been approved for use in organic production:

“Just want to thank you both for supplying us with the most beautiful material garden food we’ve ever seen. Your excellent compost has benefited our organic farm fields and crops. Our soils in Sussex County are heavy clay-silt-loam. We’ve used manure in previous years but the weed seed is a major problem. We are really impressed with how it’s improved the friability of our crop land. We’re experiencing phenomenal success with pepper, tomato and eggplant this season… due to the incorporation of your compost in each bed”
Les & Deb Guile, Walnut Grove Farm
Augusta, NJ 973-383-5029

“As a landscaper in Northwest New Jersey, we work with all different qualities of soil during excavating and plantings.  Last year, before using Ag Choice, we experienced a lot of plant loss and had to spend several thousand dollars to replace dead foliage, since we warranty customer plantings. Since switching to the Ag Choice products, we have not had any loss of plants, and the grass and sod that has been installed has grown beautifully, almost immediately.  I am willing to pay a little more because Ag Choice has increased my bottom line and I know I won't be replacing anything, which ensures customer satisfaction… priceless!”
Reneé Waid, Grey Rock Hardscapes

“I consider compost to be the ultimate mulch material. While it provides the benefits of other mulching materials… compost also adds invaluable nutrition back into the soil. Adding compost to the garden (digging it in every fall and spring or using a thick layer as a mulch) is the best thing you can do for your garden. I was very pleased to learn about a local company, Ag Choice, that is creating ‘black gold’ we can buy in bags or have delivered in bulk. … I am eager to get their compost into my garden.”
Vicki Johnson
Gardening Columnist for the New Jersey Herald

“I started using Ag Choice products about five months ago and noticed an immediate improvement in the health and growth rate of our plants, and they are finishing weeks ahead of schedule. We were able to cut back our use of fertilizers and chemicals, as well as cutting our material costs by 67%. Jay and Jill have developed a fantastic, innovative product that is extremely beneficial to the entire agricultural industry.”
Glenn Pfeifer, Glenn Brook Nursery
Lafayette, NJ 973-383-9908

“I have been using Ag Choice compost as part of my mix (about 50%) and saw a significant growth rate in the pansies in 2007. I’m looking forward to using the mix with bedding plants.”
Bob Cahill, Cahill’s Farm
Andover, NJ  973-786-5429

“Their compost would be a great option to consider for farm markets that sell top soil and other soil amendments.”
Gabi Grunstein, New Jersey Farm Bureau
